Haifeng Wang, Ph.D., joined Baidu in 2010 and was promoted to chief technology officer in May 2019. Dr. Wang is in charge of Baidu’s Artificial Intelligence Group (AIG), overseeing our development and research efforts in artificial intelligence technologies including natural language processing, speech technology, knowledge graph, deep learning, computer vision, big data, robotics and augmented reality, and efforts in computing infrastructure, network security, AI chips and other technology, as well as Baidu Intelligent Cloud, Baidu Map, etc. From 2014 to 2017, Dr. Wang oversaw Baidu’s core search products. From 2002 to 2010, Dr. Wang served as the chief research scientist at Toshiba’s R&D Center. He served as president of the Association for Computational Linguistics (ACL) in 2013 and became the founding chair of Asia-Pacific Chapter of the ACL in 2018. Dr. Wang is currently an ACL fellow. He is president of the National Engineering Laboratory for Deep Learning Technology and Applications and vice president of the Chinese Institute of Electronics, the Chinese Information Processing Society of China.
Dr. Wang is an adjunct professor at the Harbin Institute of Technology, where he obtained his bachelor, master and Ph.D. degrees in computer science. He published more than 160 academic papers focusing on the research and development of artificial intelligence technologies.
Dr. Wang was awarded the Second Prize of National Technological Invention Award, the Second Prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award, China Patent Golden Award, Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Award, National Scientific Innovation and Advancement Award, and the Outstanding Contribution Award of Wu Wen Jun AI Science and Technology Award.
